Welcome to the Dookademy learner guide. It explains how the site works for you as a learner: creating your account, finding and getting courses, following lessons, passing quizzes, sending assignments, earning certificates and managing your membership and purchases.
The guide is organized by topic. Read it from start to finish, or jump straight to the part you need from the index. Every part opens with a short overview, then walks through each task step by step, with the exact names of the buttons and menus you see on screen.
Dookademy is available in English and French. Switching languages never changes your progress, your quiz results or your certificates, so you can move between them whenever you like.
1. Getting started
Dookademy is an online school: short lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments reviewed by real teachers and a certificate when you finish. This first part shows you how to create your account, confirm your email, sign in and find your way around the site.
1.1 What you can do on Dookademy
You can browse the catalog without an account. To learn, you need a free account. With it you can:
Take free courses: start them in one click and keep them forever.
Buy a course or a bundle: one payment, lifetime access.
Join the membership: every published course, including the ones launched later, for as long as you are subscribed.
Follow your lessons: videos, readings, files to download and useful links, at your own pace, with your progress saved.
Check your understanding: quizzes with instant grading, and assignments your teacher reviews.
Ask questions: every lesson has its own discussion with your teachers and fellow learners.
Earn certificates: each one has a public link anyone can use to check it is genuine.
1.2 Create your account
You can create your account with your email address and a password, or with your Google account.
Step by step (email):
Click Start learning in the top bar, or Sign in and then Create an account.
Under the Google button, choose Create an account to open the email form.
Fill in Your name, your Email and a Password of at least 8 characters (up to 128).
Under Preferred language, pick English or Français. It is the language of your emails and your default course language.
Click Create my account. The page then says Check your inbox.
Step by step (Google):
On the sign-in page, click Continue with Google.
Choose your Google account in the window Google opens.
You come back to Dookademy, signed in. A Google account needs no email confirmation.
1.3 Confirm your email address
Accounts created with an email and a password must confirm their address before the first sign-in.
Step by step:
Open the email Dookademy sent you right after you signed up.
Click the confirmation link. It works for 1 hour.
Your address is confirmed and you can start learning.
If you try to sign in before confirming, you see Please confirm your email address first. We can send you a new link. Click Send a new confirmation link to get a fresh one.
1.4 Sign in and sign out
Step by step:
Click Sign in in the top bar.
Click Continue with Google, or choose Sign in under the Google button to open the email form.
For email, enter your Email and Password, then click Sign in.
The sign-in page marks the method you used last time with Last used, so you always know which one to pick.
If you turned on two-step verification, Dookademy then asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (see 10.5). Tick Trust this device for 30 days if you do not want to be asked again on this device for a while. Lost your phone? Click Use a backup code instead.
To sign out, open the account menu (your photo or initials in the top bar) and click Sign out.
1.5 Forgot your password
Step by step:
On the sign-in form, click Forgot password?
Enter your Email and click Send reset link.
Open the email and click the link. It works for 1 hour.
Type your New password twice and click Save new password.
Sign in with your new password.
1.6 Finding your way around
The top bar is the same on every page:
Explore courses: the full catalog.
My learning: your courses and your progress.
Bundles: groups of courses sold together.
Membership: the all-course plans.
Language: switch between English and Français.
Notifications: the bell, with a dot when something is unread (see Part 9).
Account menu: your photo or initials. It holds Account settings, My learning, My certificates, Notifications, Billing & membership, the Theme choice and Sign out.
On a phone or a narrow window, the links move into the menu button at the top right.
The footer repeats the main links, plus Verify a certificate, Contact us (the contact page) and the Terms of service, Privacy policy and Refund policy pages.
1.7 Language and theme
Language: use the language switcher in the top bar or the footer. The whole site, including course content, switches to that language. When a course has no translation yet for part of its content, that part is shown in English. Your progress, quiz results and certificates never change when you switch.
Theme: Dookademy has a light and a dark look.
Signed out, use the sun and moon button in the top bar.
Signed in, open the account menu and use Theme.
In the footer, choose Light theme, Dark theme or System theme (follows your device setting).
2. Finding courses
Before you start learning, you choose what to learn. This part covers the course catalog and its filters, everything a course page tells you, teacher pages and bundles. None of it needs an account.
2.1 Browse the catalog
Open Explore courses from the top bar. At the top, a stack of featured and popular courses: swipe or drag the cards, or use the arrows, to flip through them, and click a card to open the course.
Below, the full list of courses, 9 per page. Each card shows the cover, the title, the teacher, the number of lessons, the duration, the level, the rating and the price (or Free). Use Previous and Next at the bottom to move between pages.
Search:
Type a word in Search courses (for example a topic or a skill).
Press Enter or click Search.
The results line shows how many courses match your search.
2.2 Filter and sort
Under the search, a row of tabs and filters narrows the list:
Categories: All courses or one category, each with its number of courses. Categories that do not fit on the row are under More.
Level: Any level, Beginner, Intermediate or All levels.
Sort: Recommended, Newest, Top rated, Price: low to high or Price: high to low.
Free only: shows only free courses.
Every active filter appears as a chip under the row. Click a chip to remove that filter, or Clear all to start over.
2.3 The course page
Click any course to open its page. It is built to help you decide:
The header: title, summary, category, rating with the number of learners, teachers, and the course at a glance (number of lessons, time to complete, level).
Share: next to the rating, opens a window with the course’s cover, title and link. Click Copy link, or share it on WhatsApp, Facebook, X or LinkedIn, or by email. On a phone, Share opens your phone’s own share menu instead.
The buy box: the price and Lifetime access for a paid course, or Free for a free one, with the main button and a list of What you get. When a membership is on sale, a line reminds you the course is also included with it.
On this page: a bar with Overview, Curriculum and Reviews that jumps to each section and keeps the main button at hand while you scroll.
What you’ll learn: the outcomes of the course.
About this course: the full description. Long texts fold, with Show more to read on.
Your teacher: each teacher with a short introduction. Click a name to open their page (see 2.6).
Also part of a bundle: when the course is sold in a bundle, the bundle and how much you save with it.
More in (category): similar courses at the bottom of the page.
The main button depends on who you are. Signed out, it is Buy for (price) or Start for free. Signed in, it adapts to your access: see 3.1.
2.4 The curriculum
The Course content section lists the course’s sections and lessons, with the number of sections, lessons and the total duration.
Click a section to fold or unfold it, or use Expand all sections and Collapse all sections.
An icon on each lesson tells you its kind: Video lesson, Reading, Lesson with resources (files or links), Lesson with a quiz or Lesson with an assignment.
The line under the title tells you how the course is followed:
Step by step: each lesson unlocks the next: you take the lessons in order. A lock means Unlocks after the previous lesson.
Learn in any order you like: every lesson is open from the start.
See 4.5 for how step-by-step courses work once you are enrolled.
2.5 Read the reviews
The Student reviews section shows the average rating, the number of ratings and a bar for each star level, followed by a few written reviews.
Step by step (all reviews):
Click See all (number) reviews under the reviews.
In the window, click a star level to show only those reviews.
Type a word in Search reviews to find reviews that mention it.
Click Load more reviews at the bottom to read further.
2.6 Teacher pages
Each teacher has a public page, opened from the teacher’s name on a course page.
The header: the teacher’s photo and name, with their number of courses, learners, average rating and reviews.
Courses by (name): every published course they teach.
About (name): their introduction and since when they teach on Dookademy.
Learning with (name) includes: what you get in their courses, such as answers in the lesson discussions and certificates.
What learners say: written reviews from their courses, with See all (number) reviews to open them all.
2.7 Bundles
A bundle groups several courses at one price that costs less than buying them separately. Open Bundles from the top bar to see them all: each card shows the number of courses and how much you save.
A bundle page shows:
The bundle price, the price of the courses bought separately and the saving.
What’s inside: a card for each course in the bundle. Click one to open its course page.
The buy box, with Buy the bundle.
3. Getting access: free courses, purchases and membership
There are four ways into a course: start it for free, buy it, buy a bundle that contains it, or join the membership. This part explains each one, how checkout works and what access you keep in every case. Payments are handled by Stripe, and prices are in US dollars, before tax.
3.1 Ways to get access
Free course: start it in one click. It stays yours forever, even if it later becomes paid.
Buy a course: one payment, Lifetime access.
Buy a bundle: lifetime access to every course in the bundle, as it is on the day you buy it.
Membership: every published course, including new ones, while your membership is paid up. Monthly or yearly, no free trial.
Once you are signed in, the main button on a course page tells you where you stand:
Start learning: a free course you have not started yet.
Buy for (price) or Get this course, with Join the membership as the other option: a paid course you do not have.
You own this course. or Included in your membership, with Start the course: you have access but have not started it.
Continue learning or Go to course: you are already enrolled.
3.2 Start a free course
Step by step:
Open the course page.
If you are signed out, click Start for free, create your account (see 1.2), then come back to the course page.
Click Start learning.
You land on the course home, ready for the first lesson (see 4.2).
3.3 Buy a course or a bundle
Step by step:
On the course page, click Buy for (price) or Get this course. On a bundle page, click Buy the bundle.
If you are signed out, sign in or create your account first: you come back to checkout afterwards.
The Review your order page shows what you are buying:
For a course: Lifetime access to every lesson, in every language offered.
For a bundle: under Includes, each course in it, with Already yours next to the ones you own, and how much you save compared with buying them separately.
Optional: add a promo code (see 3.4).
Check the Total before tax and read the refund line under it (see 11.6).
Click Pay (amount) securely. You go to Stripe’s secure payment page.
Enter your payment details there and confirm. Any applicable sales tax is calculated on that page.
Some situations stop checkout before payment:
This course is already yours: you already have access, click Go to course.
This offer isn’t available: the course or bundle is not on sale right now.
When you already own every course in a bundle, its page says You already own every course in this bundle. with Go to my courses instead of the buy button.
3.4 Use a promo code
Step by step:
On the Review your order page, type the code in Promo code.
Click Apply.
If the code works, you see Code (code) applied, with the amount you save, and the total updates.
Only one code can be used per order. To try another one, click Remove code first.
If a code does not work, the page tells you why:
This code doesn’t exist. Check the spelling.
This code is no longer active., This code isn’t valid yet. or This code has expired.
This code doesn’t apply to this purchase.
This code has been used the maximum number of times. or You’ve already used this code.
3.5 After you pay
When you come back from Stripe, Dookademy confirms your payment:
You’re all set! The payment went through. A receipt is on its way to your inbox. Click Start the course (for a course), Go to my learning (for a bundle) or Explore every course (for a membership), or View billing to see your purchase.
Confirming your payment… This usually takes a few seconds and the page refreshes on its own. If it takes longer, your access appears as soon as the payment is confirmed. Click Check again to refresh.
The payment didn’t go through: nothing was charged. Click Try again, with another payment method if needed.
If you leave Stripe’s page without paying, you see No worries, nothing was charged. Click Try again to go back to checkout, or Back to courses.
3.6 Join the membership
Open Membership from the top bar. The page compares three options: Free (the free courses), Membership (every course) and Own one course (buy a single course).
Step by step:
Under Billing period, choose Monthly or Yearly. The yearly plan shows how much you save.
Click Choose monthly or Choose yearly.
Sign in if needed, then check your order: the plan, its price and how it is billed.
Add a promo code if you have one, then click Pay (amount) securely and complete the payment on Stripe.
Once paid, every published course is open to you. Open any course page and click Start the course.
Once you are a member, the account menu shows a Member badge next to your name, and the membership page shows Your current plan on your plan, with Upgrade to yearly or Switch to monthly on the other one.
3.7 What access you keep
Courses you bought, bundles and free courses: yours forever, with or without a membership.
Courses you follow through the membership: open while your membership covers today. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. If a renewal payment fails, access stops at the end of the paid period, with no grace period.
When access stops: the course shows Access paused in My learning and Your access to this course is paused inside it. Your progress is kept. Renew your membership or buy the course to pick up where you left off.
Retired courses: when the school retires a course, nobody new can start it. If you bought it, you keep it. If you started it through the membership, you keep it while your membership stays active.
4. Learning
This part follows you from your dashboard into a course and through its lessons: where to find your courses, how the lesson player works, how to mark lessons complete, how step-by-step courses unlock, and what it takes to finish a course.
4.1 My learning, your dashboard
My learning gathers every course you have started, bought or enrolled in.
The greeting: with Find a new course to go back to the catalog.
The highlight card: the most useful next step. Continue learning shows the course you worked on last, its next lesson and a progress track, with Resume lesson and See the outline. If you have not started anything yet, Where to start offers the first lesson of a course. If every course is finished, it shows your latest completed course or certificate.
Your progress: how many lessons you have done, and how many courses are In progress, To start and Completed.
Your courses: your courses in three tabs, In progress, Not started and Completed.
Each course card shows its cover, teacher, number of lessons, a progress bar, the next lesson and a badge:
Lifetime access: a free course, or one you bought.
Membership: a course you follow through your membership.
Completed: you finished it.
Access paused: your access ended (see 3.7).
The card’s button takes you to the right place: Start the course, Continue, Finish the course (when one lesson is left), Renew access (opens the course page to buy it or rejoin the membership), View certificate, or Review the course to open a finished course again.
Below the list, a membership note shows your plan and its renewal date, and a certificate panel shows how many certificates you have earned, with See my certificates.
4.2 The course home
Click a course in My learning to open its home page. It is your map of the course:
The header: title, teachers, total duration, whether the course is followed step by step or in any order, and a ring with the lessons done and the percentage.
The next step card: Ready when you are with Start this lesson if you have not begun, Pick up where you left off with Continue lesson once you have. When every lesson is done, it says You’ve finished every lesson.
What completes this course: your count of Required lessons, Quizzes passed and Assignments approved. None in this course means there is nothing of that kind to do.
Rate this course: see Part 7.
Course content: every section with its progress, and every lesson with its state: Completed, Available, Locked or Up next. Lessons marked Optional do not count toward finishing the course.
Quizzes and assignments: once every lesson is done, the lessons that hold the course’s quizzes and assignments are listed here, one click away.
Click any lesson that is not locked to open it. Use My learning at the top to go back to your dashboard.
4.3 The lesson player
A lesson opens in a focused player:
The course bar: the Dookademy logo, Back to course, your progress in the course, Share and Course content.
Share: shares the course’s public page (never the lesson itself, which only learners can open), in the same window as on the course page (see 2.3). On smaller screens it shows as an icon.
Course content: opens the outline beside the lesson (or over it, on a phone). Click any lesson to jump to it, and the cross to hide the outline. The player remembers on this device whether you like it open or closed. The outline also shows how many required lessons are left and, once every lesson is done, the Quizzes and assignments list.
The video: when the lesson starts with a video, it plays at the top. If a video is not ready yet, you see Video coming soon.
The lesson header: Lesson (number) of (total), the section, the duration, the kind of lesson and its teachers, with the completion button (see 4.4).
The tabs:
The foot of the lesson: Previous lesson and Next lesson, with their titles.
4.4 Complete a lesson and continue
You mark lessons complete yourself, when you are done with them.
Step by step:
Read or watch the lesson.
Click Complete and continue in the lesson header. The lesson is saved as done and the next lesson opens.
On the last lesson of the course, the button says Mark as complete.
Once a lesson is complete, the header shows Mark as incomplete next to Next lesson. Click Mark as incomplete if you want the lesson to count as not done again, for example to go back over it later.
4.5 Step-by-step courses and locked lessons
Each course is followed in one of two ways, shown on its page and its home:
Any order: every lesson is open from the start. Take them as you like.
Step by step: each required lesson unlocks the next one. To unlock the next lesson, you must mark the current one complete and pass its required quizzes.
In a step-by-step course:
Locked lessons show a lock and the state Locked. Hover the lock to read Finish the previous lessons and required quizzes to unlock this one.
The Next lesson button is greyed out with a lock until the current lesson is done: Complete this lesson to unlock the next one.
If you open a locked lesson from a link, you see This lesson is still locked, with Go to your next lesson.
Assignments never block the next lesson. You can keep going while your teacher reviews your work.
Optional lessons never block the lessons after them.
4.6 Lesson files and resources
Lessons can come with files: worksheets, slides, images, PDFs.
Files and links attached to the lesson are in the Resources tab, with their number on the tab.
Each file shows its name and size. Click Download to save it.
PDFs and images can also be opened in place: use View PDF or Enlarge.
Download coming soon means the teacher has announced a file that is not uploaded yet.
Links to other websites appear in the lesson text, where the teacher placed them, as a card with the page’s title, a short description and the site’s name, sometimes with a note from your teacher. They are also listed in the Resources tab. Click a card to open the page in a new tab.
4.7 Finish a course
A course is complete when you have:
marked every required lesson complete,
passed every required quiz,
had every required assignment approved by your teacher.
The What completes this course card on the course home shows where you stand.
When the lesson you just completed finishes the course, a You finished the course! window opens. Click Go to the course to see the celebration on the course home, with the completion date and, when the course gives one, View my certificate. If the certificate is still being prepared, the course home says Your certificate is on its way.
If you complete the last lesson but something is still missing, an Almost there window lists the quizzes to pass and the assignments to have approved. Click See what’s left to go to the course home.
5. Quizzes and assignments
Some lessons come with checkpoints: quizzes graded instantly, and assignments your teacher reviews. You find them in the lesson’s Overview tab, under Checkpoints and Assignments. This part explains how to take a quiz, how retries work, and how to send an assignment and talk with your teacher about it.
5.1 Checkpoints in a lesson
Under the lesson text, each quiz and assignment appears as a card:
Required or Optional: required ones count toward finishing the course. Optional ones are there to practise.
For a quiz: Passed once you pass it, and the number of attempts you have used.
For an assignment: its status, Not started, Submitted, In review, Changes requested or Approved.
Click Start quiz, Try again or See result to open a quiz, and Open assignment to open an assignment.
5.2 Take a quiz
The quiz page shows the score needed to pass, your attempts and the number of questions, followed by the instructions.
Step by step:
Answer each question:
Choose one: pick a single answer.
Select all that apply: tick every correct answer. Only the exact set of correct answers counts.
The counter at the top shows how many questions you have answered.
Click Submit answers.
Need a break? Click Save and finish later. Your answers are kept: when you come back, the quiz says Welcome back! Your saved answers are ready where you left them. An unfinished attempt does not count toward any attempt limit.
5.3 Results, retries and attempt limits
As soon as you submit, you see your score as a percentage, how many questions you got right, and each question marked Correct or Not quite.
You passed! Well done. Remember to mark the lesson complete: in a step-by-step course, that is what unlocks the next lesson.
So close! The result tells you the score you need. Review the lesson and click Try again.
Retries are unlimited unless the quiz sets a limit. When it does, the quiz shows Attempts: (used) of (maximum), and only submitted attempts count. Once every attempt is used, the quiz says You’ve used every attempt for this quiz.
5.4 Prepare your assignment files
Open the assignment from its lesson. The page shows the assignment’s progress at the top (Submitted, Changes requested, Approved), then The brief: your teacher’s instructions.
Step by step:
Under Your files, drop files on the box or click it to choose them, then click Upload.
Accepted files: PDF, Word documents, images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF) and ZIP archives.
Space used shows how much of the 5 MB limit you have used. The limit covers all the files of one version together.
Click Remove next to a file to take it out before you submit.
5.5 Submit for review
Step by step:
Under Send it to your teacher, write A few words about your work: what you tried, what you are proud of, where you are unsure.
Click Submit for review. A submission needs at least a file or a few words.
Your submission appears under Your versions as Version 1, with its date, files and note.
You can send a new version until the assignment is approved: add your files again and click Submit a new version. Every version you send is kept, with its files and your note, so you and your teacher can follow how your work evolved.
5.6 Feedback and conversation with your teacher
When your teacher reviews a version, their Feedback appears under it, marked Approved, Changes requested or Comment, with their name.
Changes requested: read the feedback, improve your work and send a new version.
Approved: the page says Approved, well done! The assignment now counts toward finishing the course, and no more versions are needed.
Next to your work, the Conversation lets you talk with your teacher without sending a new version:
Write in Message your teacher and click Send.
When your teacher asks you something, it appears as Question from your teacher. Click Answer, write Your answer and send it.
6. Lesson discussions
Every lesson has its own discussion, in the lesson’s Discussion tab (the number on the tab is how many questions it holds). It is the place to ask about the lesson, help fellow learners and get answers from your teachers. Questions and replies are published right away and are visible to everyone following the course.
6.1 Who can take part
You can read and post in a course’s discussions when you are enrolled in it and your access is current.
Teachers of the course answer there too. Their messages carry a Teacher badge.
If your access ends (for example when a membership stops), you can no longer post, but everything you wrote stays in place.
6.2 Ask a question
Step by step:
Open the lesson’s Discussion tab.
Read the existing questions first: yours may already be answered.
Click Ask a question at the bottom of the list.
Read the Tips for a quick, useful answer.
Fill in the Question title (3 to 160 characters) and the Details: what you tried, where you are stuck, the step or the moment in the video.
Click Post question. The page says Posted! Your question is live.
To leave without posting, click Back to all questions.
6.3 Reply to a question
Step by step:
Under the question, click Reply.
Write Your reply.
Click Reply to send it. To give up, click Cancel.
Replies appear under the question, oldest first. When someone replies to a question you asked, you get a notification (see Part 9).
6.4 Format and edit your messages
The message box has a small formatting bar: Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, Inline code, Link, Bulleted list, Numbered list, Quote and Code block, plus Undo and Redo. A counter shows how much you have written (up to 5,000 characters). Press Ctrl or ⌘ + Enter to send.
To edit a message you wrote:
Click Edit on your message.
Change the text in Edit your message.
Click Save changes, or Cancel to keep it as it was.
An edited message shows edited next to its date.
6.5 Report a message
If a message is spam, off-topic or unkind, report it to the moderators.
Step by step:
Click Report on the message.
Explain the problem in Reason (at least 3 characters).
Click Send report. You see Thank you. A moderator will take a look.
You can report other people’s messages, not your own. Reporting the same message twice while the first report is pending changes nothing.
6.6 Hidden messages, locked threads and former members
This message was hidden by a moderator. The message was removed from view after moderation.
Locked threads: a lock next to the title means the thread is closed. You can read it, but replies are closed.
Former member: the author deleted their account. Their text is gone, but the replies around it stay readable.
7. Ratings and reviews
Your rating helps other learners choose, and helps teachers improve their courses. You can rate any course you are enrolled in, at any point, and change your mind later. Ratings and reviews are published right away on the course page and on the teacher’s page.
7.1 Rate a course
You rate a course from its home page, in the Rate this course card. It is there as long as you are enrolled and your access is current: you do not need to finish the course first.
Step by step:
Open the course from My learning.
In Rate this course, choose your stars. Ratings go in half-star steps, up to five stars. With the keyboard, use the arrow keys.
Optional: write Your review (optional). What did you enjoy? What could be better? (up to 3,000 characters)
Click Share my rating. You see Thanks! Your rating is saved.
7.2 Change your rating
You have one rating per course, and you can update it whenever you like.
Step by step:
On the course home, the card now shows Your rating, with your stars, your text and the date.
Click Edit my review.
Change the stars or the text.
Click Update my rating, or Cancel to keep it as it was.
7.3 Where your review appears
On the course page, in Student reviews: the average, the bars for each star level and the written reviews (see 2.5).
On the teacher’s page, in What learners say, with the name of the course it is about (see 2.6).
In both places, See all (number) reviews opens every review, with filters by star level and a search.
Your review shows your display name, your initials and the date. To change your display name, see 10.2.
8. Certificates
When you complete a course that offers one, you earn a certificate of completion. Each certificate has its own public verification link, so anyone, an employer for example, can check that it is genuine without an account. This part explains when certificates are issued, how to download and share them, and what the public verification page shows.
8.1 When you get a certificate
Certificates are enabled course by course. Not every course offers one: check the course page (for example What you get) or the teacher’s page.
The certificate is issued once you complete the course: every required lesson, quiz and assignment (see 4.7).
It is prepared in the background. Right after you finish, the course home may say Your certificate is on its way. It usually appears shortly after.
The name printed on it is your display name at the time it is issued. Your account page shows it as Name on certificates.
8.2 My certificates
Open My certificates from the account menu, from the certificate panel in My learning, or with View my certificate on a completed course.
The page shows one certificate at a time, exactly as it prints:
Back to the course at the top.
The certificate itself, with the Valid certificate badge.
The download buttons, the verification link and the sharing tools.
All my certificates: the list of every certificate you have earned, with its issue date. Click one to display it.
8.3 Download your certificate
Under your certificate:
Download PDF: the printable certificate.
Download as image: the same certificate as a picture, handy for social media or a portfolio.
Only you can download the PDF of your certificate. Visitors of the public page can download the image while the certificate is valid (see 8.5).
8.4 Share your certificate
Step by step (copy the link):
Under Verification link, click the copy button next to the link.
You see Link copied. Paste it wherever you like: a CV, an email, a profile.
Step by step (share):
Click Share.
On a phone, your device’s share sheet opens. On a computer, the Share your certificate window opens with:
Add to LinkedIn profile and Post on LinkedIn,
Post on X, Share on Facebook, Send on WhatsApp,
Send by email.
Click Preview the public page to see exactly what others see when they open your link.
8.5 The public verification page
Anyone who opens a certificate’s link lands on its verification page. It shows:
the status: Valid certificate, Replaced certificate or Revoked certificate,
the certificate, drawn exactly as it prints, with the holder’s name, the course and the date,
Download the certificate, to save the image, while the certificate is valid,
About the course, with the course card, while the certificate is valid and the course is published.
Only the holder’s name, the course and the date are public. Your email and account details never appear.
To check a certificate someone gave you:
Open Verify a certificate, also linked in the footer.
Paste the verification link printed at the bottom of the certificate, or just its code, in Verification link or code.
Click Verify. The verification page opens.
8.6 Corrections, replacements and revocations
A mistake on your certificate: contact us. Staff can issue a corrected certificate. The old link then shows Replaced certificate, with View the current certificate pointing to the new one.
A revoked certificate: its page shows Revoked certificate and the date it was revoked. It is no longer valid.
If you delete your account: your certificates are revoked and their pages show Name removed instead of your name (see 10.7).
9. Notifications
Dookademy lets you know when something happens that concerns you: a teacher reviewed your assignment, someone replied to your question, you completed a course, or a payment went through or failed. Every notification appears in the site, and most can also reach you by email.
9.1 What you are notified about
Assignment feedback: your teacher reviewed one of your assignments.
Discussion reply: someone replied to a question you asked in a lesson discussion.
Course completed: you completed a course. Congratulations!
Payment received: a payment went through, with its receipt.
Payment failed: a payment did not go through. Update your card to keep your access (see 11.4).
9.2 The notification bell
The bell sits in the top bar. A badge shows how many notifications are unread; the account menu shows the same count next to Notifications.
Step by step:
Click the bell to open your latest notifications.
Click a notification to open what it is about: the assignment, the lesson discussion or the course.
Click Mark all as read to clear the badge.
Click See all notifications to open the full list.
9.3 The notifications page
Notifications lists everything, grouped by day (Today, Yesterday, then by date). New ones carry a New label.
Use the All and Unread filters at the top to choose what to show.
Click a notification to open what it is about. Opening it marks it as read.
Click Mark as read on a notification, or Mark all as read for all of them.
Click Email preferences to choose which notifications also reach you by email (see 9.4).
9.4 Choose which emails you receive
In-app notifications always stay on. You choose which ones also arrive by email.
Step by step:
Open Account settings and go to Notifications (the Email notifications section).
Tick or untick Assignment feedback, Discussion reply and Course completed.
Click Save preferences.
10. Your account
Account settings is where you manage how you appear, how you sign in, which devices are signed in, which emails you get and, if you ever need to, how to delete your account. Open it from the account menu (Account settings). The menu on the left (or at the top, on a phone) jumps to each section: Profile, Sign-in methods, Devices, Notifications, Two-step verification and Delete account, plus links to Billing & membership and Certificates.
10.1 Your identity card
The top of the page shows your profile photo, your display name, your email with verified, and Name on certificates: the name printed on the certificates you earn from now on.
10.2 Edit your profile
The Profile section is how you appear to teachers and classmates.
Step by step:
Display name: the name shown in discussions, on your reviews and on your certificates (up to 80 characters).
About you: an optional short line shown next to your name (up to 150 characters; the counter shows how many you have used).
Preferred language: the language of your emails and your default course language.
Time zone: used for reminders, deadlines and the dates shown to you. Search a city, a country or a UTC offset. The picker also suggests the zone of your device under Detected on this device: click Use it to pick it.
Click Save profile. You see Your profile is up to date.
10.3 Your profile photo
Step by step:
Click Upload a photo (or Replace photo if you already have one), or drop a photo on it.
Use JPG, PNG or WebP. HEIC photos from some phones are not supported: export them as JPG first.
Move and zoom to frame your photo, then click Save photo.
Large photos are reduced automatically. To go back to your initials, click Remove.
10.4 Sign-in methods and password
The Sign-in methods section lists the ways you can sign in: Google (Connected) and Password (Set or Not set).
Change your password:
Under Change your password, enter your Current password.
Enter your New password (at least 8 characters) and type it again in Confirm new password.
Tick Sign out of all other devices if you want every other device to sign in again.
Click Change password.
Add a password to a Google account: if you signed up with Google, you can also add a password to sign in with your email.
Click Add a password. Dookademy emails you a link.
Open the email and click the link. It works once and expires in 1 hour.
Type your Password and Confirm password, then click Add my password.
You see Password added: you can now sign in with your email and password, as well as with Google.
10.5 Two-step verification
Two-step verification adds a second lock: after your password, you confirm it’s you with a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone (such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy). It is optional for learners and strongly recommended.
Step by step (turn it on):
In Two-step verification, click Manage two-step verification.
Password: enter your Current password and click Start setup.
Scan: in your authenticator app, add an account and scan the QR code. Can’t scan it? Copy the key shown under it instead (Copy key), or save it with Download .txt or Download .json. Click I’ve added it.
Verify: type the 6-digit code your app shows and click Turn on two-step verification.
Save your backup codes: each one works once if you lose your phone, and this is the only time they are shown. Use Copy codes or Download, tick I saved my backup codes somewhere safe, then click Continue.
From then on, Dookademy asks for a code when you sign in on a new device (see 1.4).
To turn it off: on the same page, open Turn off two-step verification, enter your password and click Turn off.
10.6 Signed-in devices
The Devices section lists every device where you are signed in, with its browser and system, the last activity date and its IP address. Your current device is marked This device.
Click Sign out next to a device you do not recognize.
Click Sign out all other devices to keep only the one you are using.
10.7 Delete your account
Deleting your account is immediate and cannot be undone. Read what happens first:
Your progress, quiz answers, assignments and messages are erased right away.
You lose access to every course, including the ones you bought. Deleting does not refund purchases.
Your certificates are revoked and their verification pages no longer show your name.
Receipts are kept without your name, as the law requires for accounting.
An active membership stops and will not renew.
Step by step:
In Delete account, click Delete my account.
In the Delete your account? window, type DELETE in Type DELETE to confirm.
Enter your Current password.
Click Delete my account permanently. You land on Your account has been deleted.
If your account has no password (Google sign-up), Dookademy needs a recent Google sign-in instead. If yours is more than 15 minutes old, click Confirm with Google, sign in with the same Google account, and you come back to the window to finish.
11. Billing and membership management
Billing & membership gathers your plan, its renewal dates and every purchase you made. Open it from the account menu, from the account page, or with Manage membership wherever the site offers it. This part covers changing or cancelling your membership, failed payments, receipts and refunds.
11.1 Your billing page
The page has two parts:
Membership: your current plan, or No membership yet with See membership plans if you have none.
Purchase history: every order you placed, with its receipt (see 11.5).
When you have a membership, its card shows:
the plan (Monthly or Yearly) and its status, such as Active, Payment overdue or Ended,
Price: what you pay per month or per year,
Current period: Renews on (date), or Ends on (date) if it will not renew,
Access: Until (date), the last day your membership covers.
11.2 Switch between monthly and yearly
Monthly to yearly (takes effect right away):
Click Switch to yearly.
The Switch to yearly billing window shows what you pay today: the yearly price minus a credit for the unused part of your current month. Your new yearly period starts today.
Click Confirm the switch, or Never mind to keep your plan.
Once the payment goes through, you see Done! You’re now on the yearly plan.
Yearly to monthly (takes effect at the end of your paid year):
Click Switch to monthly.
The Switch to monthly billing window shows the date your yearly plan ends and the monthly price after that.
Click Confirm the switch. The card then says You’ll switch to the monthly plan on (date).
11.3 Cancel or keep your membership
Step by step (cancel):
Click Cancel membership.
The Cancel your membership? window shows the date until which you keep access. There are no partial refunds.
Click Yes, cancel, or Never mind.
Your membership will not renew, and the card says Your membership won’t renew. You keep full access until (date). Until that date, you can change your mind: click Keep my membership and it renews as usual.
11.4 When a payment fails
If a renewal payment does not go through:
you get a Payment failed notification and an email,
the billing page says Your last payment didn’t go through. Stripe retries automatically,
follow the email you received to update your card.
11.5 Purchase history and receipts
Purchase history lists each order with its Date, what you bought (Purchase), the Total (with tax and any discount) and its Status: Paid, Failed, Pending, Expired or Canceled.
Step by step (get a receipt):
Find the order in Purchase history.
Click Receipt. The receipt opens in a new tab, on Stripe’s page, ready to print or save.
11.6 Refunds
Refunds follow the school’s Refund policy, also linked in the footer. Before you pay, checkout shows the refund window under the total, for example Refunds within 14 days of purchase. or Purchases are not refundable., and Refund policy opens the full policy without leaving your order.
There is no refund button in your account: if the policy allows a refund, contact us. Keep in mind:
cancelling a membership stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period,
deleting your account does not refund your purchases (see 10.7).
12. Tips and FAQ
Quick answers to the questions learners ask most, with links to the part of the guide that explains each topic in full.
12.1 I did not receive the confirmation or reset email
Check your spam or junk folder.
Links expire after 1 hour. Ask for a new one: Send a new confirmation link on the sign-in form, or Forgot password? for a reset.
If you ask for several links in a row, wait a minute before trying again.
Make sure you typed the address you signed up with. For your privacy, the site never says whether an address has an account.
12.2 I cannot sign in
That email and password don’t match: check for typos, or reset your password (see 1.5).
Please confirm your email address first: open the confirmation email, or ask for a new link (see 1.3).
Signed up with Google? Click Continue with Google. The Last used label shows which method you used last time.
Lost the phone with your authenticator app? Use Use a backup code instead on the code screen (see 10.5).
Too many attempts: take a short break and try again in a minute.
12.3 Why is this lesson locked?
The course is followed step by step. Go back to the previous lesson, mark it complete and pass its required quizzes: the next lesson then unlocks. See 4.5.
12.4 I finished every lesson, but the course is not complete
A course also needs every required quiz passed and every required assignment approved by your teacher. Open the course home: What completes this course shows what is left, and the Quizzes and assignments list takes you straight to those lessons. If an assignment is waiting for review, the course completes as soon as your teacher approves it. See 4.7.
12.5 My course says Access paused
Your access to that course came from a membership that has ended. Your progress is kept. Renew your membership, or buy the course from its page, and you pick up exactly where you stopped. See 3.7 and 11.3.
12.6 Does changing the language reset my progress?
No. Switching between English and Français never creates a new enrollment and never changes your progress, quiz results or certificates. Course content follows the language you choose, with English shown for any part not translated yet. See 1.7.
12.7 Where is my certificate?
Check that the course offers a certificate (see 8.1).
Check that the course is complete: the course home shows You did it! Course complete.
Right after completion, it can take a moment to prepare: Your certificate is on its way.
All your certificates are in My certificates.
12.8 How do I get help?
For a question about a lesson, ask in its Discussion tab: teachers answer there.
For a question about an assignment, use the Conversation on the assignment page.
For anything about your account, a purchase or a certificate correction, use the Contact us page (also linked in the footer). You can send up to 2 messages a day; if two are still waiting for our reply, wait for our answer before writing again.
